CHM……Fire resistant
glazing gaskets
and ancilaries
The weakest point in a fire
resistant glazing system is the glazing pocket. With timber
framing, the pocket is susceptible to erosion by fire and
intumescent seals are used to help maintain the integrity
of the pocket. |

Unlike timber, steel framing
does not erode in fire and mineral fibre tapes are often
used to reduce the amount of heat that is conducted to the
edges of the glass and to help secure the glass in position
as it starts to soften and slump.
