Advanced Fibre Materials
Technical Fibre Products

Products supplied by CHM Composites under the syntex brand range from light weight surfacing veils to heavier semi structural reinforcements made from a wide range of synthetic fibres. Veils and mats are produced in base weights from 8g/m2 to 350g/m2 and can be supplied in full or slit widths.

The discontinuous nature of the fibres means the veils and mats are by necessity, chemically bonded. Binders are specially selected to be compatible with all major resin systems and to be either soluble or insoluble depending on the requirements of the application or process.

Our products are suitable for most processing techniques including hand lay-up, pultrusion, filament/mandrel winding, prepreg lamination/autoclave, RTM, vacuum assisted resin injection processes etc.

The wet laid process allows dissimiler fibres to be intimately blended to give a tailored product which exhibits the optimum properties of each fibre type. For instance, blends of carbon with non conductive fibres gives a balance of conductivity and cost for surface static dissipation, blends of aramid with thermoplastic fibres can impart high abrasion resistance with high elongation in the finished component.
